Hardcore punk is better, but I like them both. Which pop punks did you get into?

I'm assuming it's bad because it has the word pop in it.

I like 90's and hardcore punk more, but pop punk is alright. Not my favorite genre but there are a few bands I like.

I have no idea what it is. Is Panic! at the Disco pop punk? I don't listen to them but from what I've heard it sounds like they might fit. But what do I know :confused:

Since I'm so clueless I checked Wikipedia, and it lists one of the genres they play in as pop punk... so there you have it :D

I wasn't sure about what qualified as "pop punk" so I did a search as well. Found this page (https://www.buzzfeed.com/mariasherm/36-pop-punk-albums-you-need-to-hear-before-you-f-ing-die?utm_term=.igwvrl4Og#.munMEoJ1N), which means I do indeed like a lot of pop punk (which isn't surprising, since I like most types of music). I've stumbled onto most of the stuff on this list at one point or another.

I admit this is kinda "The Final Frontier", but groups like The Offspring are largely good.

Pop punk is a good genre, as long as it doesn't get too poppy. :P
I like pop-punk bands like Blink-182 and Motion City Soundtrack.

I saw The Offspring live and liked it.

I liked pop punk?

They do Pop Punk and Punk Rock.
It's sometimes hard to differentiate, but yeah, good part of The Offspring's songs can be classified as Pop Punk.

My friend once dragged me to a concert of Neck Deep, but that's pretty much my only experience with pop punk.
I generally only listen to hardcore or German punk.

Bill can say whatever he wants but I've rarely heard Green Day playing this kind of music:

Wow, looks like my music taste is extremely varied. I like all of these after giving them a listen. Granted, I already knew Holiday In Cambodia but these are great to be honest.

The closest I get to pop punk is The Ramones. Some Danzig-Era Misfits songs could be classified as pop-punk, like the "Walk Among Us" album.

since yall are arguing about hardcore this and 90s that it's time for somebody to post the Real True Objective Indisputable Nation Shocking Official Punk Subgenre Ranking:

NOTE: ranking is decided by the goodness of the genre in it's musical peak

post hardcore > art punk (i hate the fact that art punk is good because it has the shittiest genre name ever. how uncool do you have to be to try create a distinction between low-brow and high-brow in frigging PUNK of all genres ugh) > emo (sunny day real estate kind) > post-punk > emocore > pop punk (the peak being the 2010s wonder years style) = hardcore (peak being whatever year minor threat started) > synth punk > proto punk > 'regular' punk > whatever your favorite punk subgenre is
