View Full Version : Advice/help with parents and school?

So I am in a gifted program (basically AP) in 8th grade because I am what people call a 'gifted' kid. I have good grades for an AP course (4 As and 2 Bs) but have a passion for basketball, and practically live so I can play it. With all this work I don't feel as if I have time to do other things, and I have dreams of playing college ball and maybe even professional. Now I love all of my teachers, but I feel like if I went into Honors instead for my 9th grade year I would be a lot happier at school and not be stressed. The problem is bringing this up to my parents, who really want me to stay in this program. How do I bring this up to them? And convince them Honors is better for me? 🙏🏼😃

Thank you sooo much,

Tell them exactly what you wrote here. I'm sure they will understand. It would be stupid if they didn't.

It's not impossible to take AP classes and still do sports. It is alot of time and work though.
