I've been thinking about this for a while and have decided to finally make a post about it. I think that a hygiene forum would be really helpful as we don't seem to have a forum which is specified to that. It could be in teen lifestyle and users could ask questions that could benefit many teens like best acne treatments and such.

It seems like a pretty good idea. Just wanted to know what everyone else thinks.

VT General Hospital is close to what I'm suggesting, but I feel like teen hygiene is a topic that has enough potential to justify having it's own subsection.

I think that sounds like a really good idea. You can probably cover this topic over a number of other sections, but I think a specific area would also be pretty good to.

Some things may not fit into some sections very well, and maybe seem odd

I'm having a hard time trying to think of what kinds of threads might exist in such forum. Things that pop up in my mind:

A lot of repeated acne threads, just like P101's creativity.
Do you use deodorant? What kind?
How many baths a day?
How much toilet paper do you use? What kind?
I love singing in the shower!
Do people in your country have good hygiene?
Do you trim, shave, wax or au natural?
Who bites nails? What about toe nails?
Favorite soap scent
How to care for contact lenses

I mean, most of these aren't helpful and they all fit somewhere else in VT.

This. Initially, I thought it was a really good idea and I was super on-board, but the more I think about it, a lot of topics like that can fit into P101, TWPR, or VT General Hospital. Just out of curiosity, because I think it could be a good idea if it works, are there any topics you can think of that don't fit those three subforums already? Microcosm

The VTGH seems to focus on sickness and such so specifically hygiene questions like dental hygiene maybe doesn't seem to fit there. For instance, if someone asked "How often do you floss?" as a question, it doesn't seem like VTGH typically hosts questions of that sort.

If the logic to say that TWPR could encompass it is followed, then really forum sections like S&F or Cinema could be encompassed in some way in there too.

Basically, it would just be a more specific section which could in some cases fit elsewhere, but serves to provide people with a direct place to go to ask questions that are specifically relative to hygiene rather than illness or injury etc.

You could ask about acne and such in P101, but that forum is covered with so much other stuff that I feel like hygiene questions would get drowned out and not taken seriously in there. Not sure. That forum strikes me as more of a sex-oriented place, but maybe I'm wrong.

I think a lot of the ones you listed could actually be pretty insightful. Particularly acne treatment, how many baths, deodorant, contact lenses etc.

That was pretty much my thought as well when I replied. Seems you could spread it out over a few forums, but specifically, could be lost in the shoufel. Think some members might wonder some things about how often you should clean your ears, cut your toenails etc

As obvious as it might seem, never know really....

I will admit to not being the best in the hygiene department and not knowing the answer to those questions. The forum might be a good idea.

Okay, you're right with TWPR being a sort of all-encompassing thing, I shouldn't have included it. Personally, I'm sold.

I know that there hasn't been a new forum addition for a while now and staff tends to keep adding new forums to a minimum. I'd like to see what the higher ups think as well.

Honestly, I'm not for adding a new forum, or even a subforum for this, and the reasons are basically explained above. I don't think it would get a good amount of traffic, and there's limited threads.

However, and I'm not saying anything when I say this, I would not be opposed to modifying the description or something of VTGH to make it something that is "less sicky/illnessy" and more just general health, and something hygiene can fit under. It's just a thought, and a possible compromise.

Or maybe even a sticky hygiene thread also?

Can't hygiene threads go in the VT general hospital?

That's pretty much what I was suggesting, sinse they don't wana do a new forum for it. Was talking about like changing the name, or description of the VTGH.

So maybe a sticky thread in there, would satisfy for a hygiene thread or something
Just an idea

That is a possibility as well.

Well yeah, they can. What OP is saying (and please, correct me if I'm wrong) is that it doesn't seem very "welcoming" for those types of threads, even though they are "supposed" to go there, and the suggestion was to make a forum for that, in which the response from myself is that changing the description and/or making it a sticky.

Is the mod of that forum, who ever that is, ok with a sticky like that?

Maybe adjust the description then but there is already a line in the description for 'advice on healthy living'

Im up for seeing that happen I think it would be a good idea my only concern is that it will be all acne questions and surveys
