View Full Version : Non-sexual Nudity

I don't know anyone who is a nudist, but there seem to be a lot of people who are. Other than the person I would be fooling around with, I really don't feel comfortable being nude around anyone else. Mom maybe, but only in certain situations. For girls that are comfortable being nude around friends or family, how do you keep any sexual feelings out?

I don't walk around my family naked, but enjoy being naked around friends. But at the same time, my friends and I hook up with each other so being naked is an expression of sexuality with each other.
I don't have a problem being naked around others if I'm in a locker room or something like that. I think a lot of the sexual feelings stem from the context of where you are and what you're doing.

As a naturist being in naked in the company of other like minded people, also being naked in the locker room / showers at school and the swimming pool does not bother me, I spend quite a lot of time nude at home even when friends (girls) are over. But not when strangers around.
To many people link naturism and sex both in real life and of course on the Internet, a lot of so called naturism / nudism on the Internet is porn. There is nothing "sexual" about true naturism. X

I have some experience with this.

Think of it this way, you can be around people and see their mouths/lips all day and never think of kissing them. That's the same way naturists can be around people in their natural state and not think about being sexual with them.

Hope that helps :)

I'm a nudist and i feel very comfortable being naked around people. Being naked could be completely non sexual. Just for example, if i see a hot guy, i would think about sexual stuff about him even if he's wearing clothes. naked or not does not really change sexual feelings, but being naked could be sexual. you're more likely to be naked when you do sexual stuff, but i dont mix nudity and sex together.

I think people always miss the point on this one in their naturist defence.

Naked bodies automatically cause sexual arousal, if we find them even remotely attractive and potentially interested. It's impossible to turn that process off, hence from what I've heard erections at naturist beaches are frowned upon, and must be covered up. Women can be more subtle about it. I'd be highly dubious of anyone non-asexual saying they feel nothing.

In terms of your 'lots of people are', it's quite the opposite. This is why nudist areas are so few and far between even in Europe. Even then they realise it's unhygienic and impose rules such as must wear clothes for going to eat.

So does (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_social_nudity_places_in_Africa)
this not (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_social_nudity_places_in_Asia)
count as (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_social_nudity_places_in_Europe)
common (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_social_nudity_places_in_North_America)
or lots (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_social_nudity_places_in_Oceania)
of people? (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_social_nudity_places_in_South_America)

As for the claim that nudity automatically causes sexual arousal if we even slightly like their body... lol no that isn't the case s0rry

As for the Op, it's really just the case of being comfortable with your body and around other people. Long ago (in ancient times) people didn't wear clothes. It wasn't until harsh weather and climate was a factor that they developed a layer of artificial protection, and even then (even now) people were most comfortable without their clothes. Have you ever seen babies or small children run around naked? Besides the fact that their parents allow them, kids are comfortable doing that and haven't developed the self conscious feelings we do now. Again, it's all about comfortability

No it doesn't count as common, when you see the bigger picture.

As for your 'that's wrong sorry', basic biology disagrees with your conjecture.

We started to wear clothing when we started to lose our natural fur (the legacy of which is our goosebumps), but this is off-topic.

We are open and nude at home. We have a private back yard so in the summer we skinny dip a lot. Just how my brothers and I were raised. Sometimes I blush but mostly I'm used to it now.

It is difficult for a non naturist to understand that being nude is not a sexual thing.
You say "naked bodies automatically cause sexual arousal" if that was the case you would see every man and boy with an erection, but I can assure you that is not the case so am not sure where you are getting your information.
By the way what is your definition of "nudists areas"?
Also when you say you "must" for going to eat, that is not always the case except for the staff.

I'll take this in reverse order if I may;

I have read up on this as it was a discussion I had with friends a while back, baffled as we are by why one would possibly want to expose oneself like this (we're all very modest). Every European resort I looked up, the ones on Google with high rankings, stated you must sit on towels on furniture or shared surfaces, and clothing must be worn for dinning. This seems like a logical safeguard to me, no?

I think people are not fully understanding what I meant by that comment, and it's been misquoted twice now.

Arousal is a subconscious response one does not have any control over, like yawning or hating Justin Bieber (I'm half joking :D).

When presented with naked stimuli we find mildly attractive, especially if they are seen by our subconscious mind as being sexually available (in the same space), then it engages this automatic response.

This doesn't mean anyone takes or engages in any actions in response to that stimulus, but the body reacts to ready itself for sex (erections or getting wet).

There are obvious limiting factors to this autonomic response. A well endowed, tall muscular late teen/man is going to be more potentially arousing than a 83 yr old grandad (I'd hope ).

Also, studies show being in a loving relationship, or in some cases becoming a father, decreases these sex drives for procreating with other 'mates'.

My information comes from biology, neuroscience and psychology.

On an unrelated but interesting note, a male rat will copulate until he dies of exhaustion when presented with a constant supply of different, sexually receptive female rats. Going out with a bang. Those were some weird researchers :confused:

Please let me know if this doesn't fully clarify my previous statement.

~ Clara

N.B. I'd also like to point out that most 'nudists' are over the age of 60, certainly from literature concerning Europe, and whose sex drives are dramatically lower than say our ages.

I see by your reply your coming from an anti naturist viewpoint by your statement "why one would possibly want to expose themselves like that (we are all very modest)
I don't know what sites you went on for information but a lot of Google results for searching Naturism or Nudism would be more porn orientated than true naturism /nudism.
I agree you have to sit on a towel in a public seating area or in the sauna, and as for dining different resorts / clubs have different rules just like any non naturist restaurants have dress codes.
The holiday resorts / parks and beaches in Europe are very family orientated, there are also quite a few in the USA and Canada.

I'm sorry but you don't appear to be really reading what I'm saying, I'm not sure where the miscommunication is here.

Just a few points;

- I didn't say I was against other people being naked collectively, in fact I actually gave no opinion or judgement on it whatsoever. I simply said that it wasn't something my friends and I would choose to do. All I will say in terms of giving an opinion is that myself and my friends feel our bodies are more special than that, and we wouldn't feel comfortable being looked at (or find seeing at all appealing either). I've discussed this on other posts though.

- I don't see why you would jump to the conclusion I viewed porn sites, but that is incorrect. There were people as adamant as you supporting them, and with the child friendly sites pedos lurking and being banned too.

I'm not really sure what your post did to further any discussion off of mine, other than repeat your previous points. I've stated clearly what I have to say on the matter.

I go skinny dipping with friends and sometimes there is no sexual tension but at times, there has been sexual tension. I don't walk around family naked on purpose but I'm not embarrassed if I get caught running to my bedroom from the shower with just a towel on my head. With friends (depending on how close we are) it's not uncommon for us to be naked together (boys and girls). It's only an issue if we choose to make it one.

If you think everyone's doing it but don't feel like it's for you, don't do it. But if you're just scared at people 'knowing what you look like down there' then give it some time.

I think I really became comfortable with myself when I was in my late teens and I reckon it took at least 5-6 trips to the beach before I could stand in front of someone I knew who wasn't a girl friend completely naked and feel comfortable. Now I don't even think about it. Why did I try so hard? I really really like the feeling. It only really dawned on me when I moved here to Europe when I'd see other people naked and I'd still be clothed because of little insecurities. I wouldn't say a flaunt it everywhere but there's a time and a place to be naked, and it's really really enjoyable :-) Hope that helps a lill.

Nudity is a life style...it isl not connected with sexual feeling....in fact if you are habituated to this you may not be aroused even if you are in the midst of many hot guys..try to visit any such beach and have your own experiment.

I hang out naked with my sisters and close friends and my mum sees me naked all the time. When I'm naked with someone I can mentally separate whether it's a sexual or non-sexual scenario. I grew up comfortable with nudity so I suppose the more times you do it the more you learn to control your feelings. Admittedly, sometimes when I'm naked with friends in a non-sexual scenario and I get urges it often ends up turning into a sexual scenario.
