Able to recognize spam: Yes. In fact, I know if people advertize things that shouldn't be, I know what is inappropriate, I read the FAQ more than once so I can be good at that.
Deal with it: Well, yeah. All I need to do is lock it! :D Or if it's not fully spam, I can see what it is and try to fix it up.
EDIT: If the member is new, I PM them a fair warning. But if they do bad thing again, I give them an angry warning. Do it again, infraction. But older members who should know better will only get two chances. I am gonna be nice, I guess. :)
Control Arguments: Yes. I can just nicely ask people to quit the arguments and make peace, and if they don't stop, I warn them again. If they keep doing it, I get mad and warn them again. If they keep doing it, Infraction. :D And if they start bashing me, well, I'll deal with it. Mods have patience, and I guess I can have that.
Active: Haha, are you kidding me?! :P I am on 24/7! :D Haha! :lol3:
I will do my best, and I hope I can make all of you proud. :)

I would like to apply,
After trial and error I now know very much about how to classify and provent/end spam threads. I am very involved in issues and worldly problems, most of my posts are in the general discussions area and I am very knowledgeable in the subjects and they are my faviorite threads. Dureing arguements I will do my best to end them with both sides happy or be very stearn with them and make them stop. I am very active on the forums and log on each and every day. I will do my best to insure that the general discussion are the most well maintained area on the whole site. ( i do my job and i do it well)

Able to recognize spam: Yes. I do a lot of spamming in spam threads in diaries, trust me when I say I can identify spam. I'm usually the first one to alert a moderator of spam or a thread not fit for its area (or something that just doesn't belong on this site). I know if a thread does not belong. I also know if someone's post is worthless or doesn't contribute to the discussion. I have been told that I have a keen eye for noticing things in posts that other people don't.
How I would deal with it: I would warn the poster if it was their first time, and depending on the content I would either edit the post, leave it alone, or if really necessary, delete it. If a thread is posted with something in it that is not fit for its area, I would move it. If the thread was inappropriate or not fit for this site I would lock it, or if it had really inappropriate content, I guess it would have to be deleted. And I guess infractions would be dealt it if need be. I would probably contact an admin if I thought someone should be banned.
Control arguments: Again, I would do what I stated above. I would warn the poster, give them an infraction, then contact an admin if they began to spam excessively or continued to post inappropriate content, etc. If two people were getting at each other and a thread was getting out of hand, I would probably lock the thread (unless it was a very important thread/one of a kind thread, then I would just warn the users, and do what I said above if they continued to argue).
Active: I'm on every weekday for at least an hour, usually two or three, sometimes four, or even five. And hell, I'm never busy on the weekends, I can be on for at least 5 hours. I'm probably the second most active user on this site as of right now.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that more than 50% of my posts are in the general discussions area, and that I check almost every part of it each day (I sometimes don't check the art room and Tech Junky's Paradise, but that can change :P)

Well, not to sound arrogant, but I think I have the most experience modding. I have modded the Phyciatric Ward. Then, I was moved to the General Discussions, which then I later retired from. I think I did a pretty damn good job, even though I made a few mistakes. But I learned from those mistakes.
I am able to recognize spam. If a member makes a spam post being new, you delete it, and inform them of their mistake. After a first offence, or if they are seasoned memeber, they go to infractions.
Other things such as rascism, and direct personal attacks would not be tolerated at all. No second chances on such things. Arguements that aren't constructive aren't only controlled, but put to a stop.
I went throught a short period of a lot of unactivity. Now I am more active, but not posting as much. That can be changed, and I will step up to the plate and begin posting more. I am on everyday, except when I am on vacations. And if I am only on for a short period of time, modding will come first.
With that said, I hope you take my application into consideration and realize that eperience = quality. :D

Be able to recognise and deal with spam-I know what spam is, and I can use right judgement to control it.
Control arguements-This has always been a skill of mine. I will (if you pick me that is) and even not, try my upmost to control disscussions and prevent arguments.
Active-I am on VT around every day. I like the General Disscussions Section and spend time there :D
