View Full Version : Is that bipolar?

I read quite much about bipolar but still I can't give myself an answer so I want to ask you if I am actually bipolar. Im 14 years old and some say it might be puberty but I guess that's too much. Every day I have "mood swings" in the range of 2-3 hours. Sometimes I'm so happy that I would hug the whole world if I could but after several hours my mom says something annoying or just without any reason I get extreamly mad and I want to tear my skin into pieces. I had few months when I was very creative- I was writing essays, poems, sketches. Now my mind is dull, I'm numb and I feel something is wrong. Last night I went to bed at 3 pm and woke up absolutely naturally at 6. It's been like that for a month. Wtf? I think this is enogh but I can give you more info if you want.

The only way to really know is to go to a trained professional and get a diagnosis. We can't tell you if you have bipolar and I don't advise self diagnosis. Bipolar is a very complex thing which can be hard to diagnose, however seeing someone about it may help.

Manic episodes last a lot more than 2-3 hours. Both of my parents are Bipolar 2 and their manias range from weeks to months, not just short hours.
I know it sucks to hear but i think its just mood swings. Im not a doctor though, you should go see a specialist.

Bipolar is a complex disorder--those are potential signs of it.

You should talk with a psychologist if you really think you're bipolar. There are likely resources you can go to if you don't feel comfortable approaching your parents about it (helplines and other things are out there, school counselors can help too and could direct you to help if you want).

You do have some symptoms. Problem is, BPD is really tricky. If you try self-diagnosis with bipolar, it'll be pretty inaccurate. Sometimes, it seems like bipolar when it's just puberty hormones. Seek professional counsel. After all, they [I]are[I] professionals for a reason :D

Manic episodes last, (from what I hear) up to days at a time, not usually short in hours.

I hope that things go well with your appointment with your therapist!
But try to steer clear of self diagnosis if you can.
