I almost did but decided against it because I wasn't ready for the side effects.

Fuck I hate them so much. The ADD meds i used to take caused more problems then the "disorder" I had. I hate the fact that doctors are so quick to drug kids on this shit. I should've never went along with what my mom and doctor were saying and I'm I glad eventually stopped listening to them.

Exactly, it always seems as though doctors prescribe drugs as a first resort when they should be a last resort. I strongly suggest taking a trip to a naturopath.

That's not unusual at all. See, doctors get paid to refer patients to their drugs. And since the doctors want money(in all honesty -- who doesn't?), they'll just refer them from the start. People [almost] always trust the doctor, so they will do the drugs and most will quickly learn that was a bad idea.

That's against the law in Canada, although they do get free trips to attend "conferences" in hawaii. Maybe that's their incentive. The whole medical health system is disgusting.

i took meds in elementary school. i had Straterra and within the 30 mins it wore off i was asleep for 16 hours... i had 8 hour days. it sucked.. so i stopped taking it and tried others. they all gave me stupid side effects though. i tried straterra again in 10th grade and it made me a moody bitch, hah so im off add meds for good now. just not worth it. i get As and Bs so its alll good(:

It is just a pill, and it causes drowsiness. I'm normally a hyper person without them, so I'm normal on the outside. Hyper nor tired.

I like them, considering they are really tiny.

I quit I'm extremely glad that I can do ok without meds. The side effects suck on all psych meds.

Before I started taking the meds, I came home crying from kindergarten every day because I couldn't learn to calm down and was always getting in trouble. After, I was happier. Without the meds I don't think I would have ever gotten the grades I get.
Still, when I'm off meds I'm a lot more fun to be with.

Yeah...I used to take biphenton and then it was ok but took my appetiete away and then moved onto concerta. It literally took the living shit out of me, I was so fatigued and my weight went up about 5 pounds in three years. moved onto concerta, much less fatigue and slightly more appeteite. I still take random days off of it when I can to increase my appeteite that tiny bit. i'm a lot more fun to be around when I'm off my meds. I haven't raelly realized it but lately I noticed that when I'm on my meds my teen moodyness gets brought out a lot. Yesterday I took them off and I got along fine, especially with my mom and dad. I'm really glad I take my straterra though, it really helps me focous in class and get the grades I get. :D all ADD meds will have different side effects but the one big change that I notice in almost all of them is that they just supress your personality. I mean, your either a meaner person or just more quiet and calm. Like...its like sombodys cut a chunk out of you. I don't hate taking my ADHD meds but at the same time I enjoy the time I get to take off of them.

I take mine (Addelrall XR) and they do help. There are so many out there though. You need to talk with your doctor about it and figure out the right kind and dosage. Yeah, some have crazy weird side effects but once you find the right one you should definitely see a difference.

I take mine called "Stratera" (not sure the spelling) and it's like 60mg but the one thing I hate about it is that you need to eat heavy lunch or breakfast to take it.

When I was little, I had a touch of ADD, and I also took the same med. I quit taking it when I was in second grade or somewhere in that area of my life, lol

Now of course in most places, you have to stick to the first med the doctor gave you, and you can't try different ones until you find one that doesn't make you feel like crap, unless you parents and doctor let you, just because your just a kid.
